Our Supreme Leader's latest assault on the unborn, from Gateway Pundit: Taxpayer-funded embryonic stem-cell research. From Fox:
One of the most outspoken abortion opponents in Congress labeled President Obama the "abortion president" on Friday in response to news that Obama intended to sign an executive order Monday lifting restrictions on federal funding for embryonic stem cell research.
Rep. Chris Smith, R-N.J., accused Obama of launching two attacks on pro-life measures. In addition to lifting President Bush's stem cell restrictions, Obama intends to lift regulations from the Bush administration that allow health care providers and institutions to refuse to participate in abortions on grounds of conscience.
Smith labeled Obama's stem cell policy an expansion of "human embryo experimentation."
"Why does the president persist in the dehumanizing of nascent human life when better alternatives exist? Human embryo-destroying stem cell research is not only unethical, unworkable and unreliable- it is now, demonstrably unnecessary," Smith said.
How do you all feel about paying for forced abortions? From LifeNews, we have the latest on the UNFPA:
House Democrats prohibited pro-life Rep. Chris Smith from introducing an amendment to cut out the UNFPA funding, but the Senate allowed a vote on a similar amendment by Sen. Roger Wicker, a Republican from Mississippi.Wicker’s amendment would have restored the Kemp-Kasten anti-coercion population control provision that prohibits funding of any groups that engage in or support forced abortion programs.
"By restoring the Kemp-Kasten provision that Democratic leaders have gutted in this bill, we can ensure that UNFPA is not assisting in coercive abortions in China with the help of U.S. taxpayer dollars," he added.
How they justify this, and how they wash the damned spot off their hands, is beyond me.
The Senate on Thursday rejected an amendment that would have stopped the sending of taxpayer funds to the United Nations Population Fund. That's the UN agency that has been found to have supported the Chinese population control program that relies on forced abortions and sterilizations.
The Senate voted 55-39 against the amendment, with a handful of Democrats joining most Republicans in voting pro-life for the amendment.
GP knows it's hard to keep track of Obama's various efforts to maximize the destruction of innocent life (so many accomplishments in so short a time!), so here's their nifty round-up:

On to Kathleen Sebelius. She, the overwhelmingly pro-abort governor, is a match made in heaven for him, our most aggressively pro-abortion President. And the appointment of an enemy of life to head a department entitled Health and Human Services has that sweet Orwellian touch that seems to arise so effortlessly from El Supremo.
Yes, we can understand the nomination. But we can't understand Sen. Brownback's support of this nomination, no matter how he finesses it.
