Corruption, weakness, brutality, dissimulation, arrogance

And so on. A few must-reads. Excerpts are intended as enticements, not substitutes for reading the rest.

Dominoes, anyone?
RS McCain on the IG scandal:

Describing the probe into the dismissal of the AmeriCorps inspector general Gerald Walpin, one Capitol Hill source on Thursday compared Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley’s demand for facts in the case to a row of dominoes ready to tip over.

Grassley is asking questions, a team of Senate investigators is poring over documents in the case, and where the investigation proceeds now “depends on what dominoes fall next,” explained the source, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Abjectly yours, Barack
Charles Krauthammer on Obama's weak stand on Iran
Dialogue with a regime that is breaking heads, shooting demonstrators, expelling journalists, arresting activists. Engagement with -- which inevitably confers legitimacy upon -- leaders elected in a process that begins as a sham (only four handpicked candidates permitted out of 476) and ends in overt rigging.
Speaking of breaking heads, this gruesome video from Gateway Pundit is not for the squeamish but gives testimony to just what Obama is voting present on.

Back to Mr. Krauthammer. I was astonished to find that Obama actually referred to Khamenei as "the Supreme Leader":
Then, after treating this popular revolution as an inconvenience to the real business of Obama-Khamenei negotiations, the president speaks favorably of "some initial reaction from the Supreme Leader that indicates he understands the Iranian people have deep concerns about the election."

Where to begin? "Supreme Leader"? Note the abject solicitousness with which the American president confers this honorific on a clerical dictator who, even as his minions attack demonstrators, offers to examine some returns in some electoral districts -- a farcical fix that will do nothing to alter the fraudulence of the election.

Please read the rest. My excerpts haven't even introduced his thesis.

Obama, giving new meaning to . . . everything.
Victor Davis Hanson on Obamaworld
1. The Budget. Wanting to cut $17 billion from the budget, as President Obama has promised, is proof of financial responsibility. Borrowing $1.84 trillion this year for new programs is “stimulus.” The old phrase “out-of-control spending” is inoperative.

2. Unemployment. The number of jobs theoretically saved, or created, by new government policies — not the actual percentage of Americans out of work, or the total number of jobs lost — is now the far better indicator of unemployment.

3. The Private Sector. Nationalizing much of the auto and financial industries, while regulating executive compensation, is an indication of our new government’s repeatedly stated reluctance to interfere in the private sector.

Arrogance in action
SENATOR Barbara Boxer feels dissed by being called "ma'am."

I tried to ignore this, honestly, but heard the audio clip in the car. Too much. General Walsh's tone was nothing but respectful. Boxer's slap speaks volumes about her ego and her feminazi impulses.

I don't know a thing about General Walsh but I'll betcha ten bucks he knows more about hard work and achievement than does SENATOR Boxer.

Will a senate investigation ensue to uncover who put him up to calling her that? I wonder how she feels about being called Babs? These girls are awfully touchy. I suppose it's too soon to celebrate Offend a Feminist Week again?
