David Letterman's Palin thing UPDATED

Can I declare, like, a fatwah or something on David Letterman? To think Pundit and I used to love him back in the days when Chris Elliot was "the guy under the seats." But of late Dave has become a creep of the first degree. From last night's Top Ten:

2. Bought makeup from Bloomingdale's to update her "slutty flight attendant" look

Dave, we know you've got an icky love-hate thing for Sarah. We haven't forgotten last November when you outed yourself as a dirty old man. But maybe you should find a way to keep it to yourself.

Just so you don't accuse me of not having a sense of humor, I almost laughed at #5 and 7, and certainly would have had they actually been funny. And I like Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin in 30 Rock.

*Update: Oh gosh, there's more. Chuck Nice on the Today Show compares Sarah to herpes, and Dave makes a pregnant joke, about the wrong daughter. Guys, you are so classy.

Everyone has something to say about this. C4P has the definitive post: David Letterman is a Sexist Pervert. Dan Collins shreds him and Little Miss Attila stomps on the remains, adding:

You’re simply going to get more dried-up and bitter year by year by year, and it’ll be harder and harder to remember what it was like when you still had a vague whisper of talent about you—when it looked like you might have the ghost of a gift.

John Nolte at Big Hollywood laments what Dave has become. Moe Lane calls him a "disgusting pig." Bingo.

Letterman attacked in crass sexual terms both Palin and her daughter: Two of the rhetorical cornerstones of the feminist movement used to be zero-tolerance for sexual slurs by men alleging promiscuity ("slutty flight-attendant look"), and jokes about something as serious as rape (e.g., Palin's 14-year-old daughter "knocked up by Alex Rodriguez"). David Letterman, who has become ever more creepy in his dotage, on both counts proved a boor — and receives only silence? (Personally, I admire flight attendants a great deal: They put up with a great deal from jet lag to obnoxious passengers, and somehow remain polite and hard-working — and with a modest and professional look.)

Yep. It was an insult to flight attendants, too.
