I read this yesterday in my morning paper:
"I thought if I did this, I could pay off the money I owed," said Imam Baksh, 45, a veteran kiln worker. After a moment's hesitation, he lifted his dirty tunic to display a long, diagonal scar across his left side. "They only paid me 80,000 rupees [about $1,600 at the time], and I owed 100,000," he added. "I lost my kidney, but I am still here, and I am still in debt."The world is in desperate need of the example of freedom that our country has always provided. It's up to all of us to do whatever we can to preserve and extend our liberty.

Michelle Malkin cuts to the heart of the matter in her Independence Day post:
How are you celebrating America’s 233 years of freedom? Do this first: Thank all our troops on the front lines and all our veterans who have served and sacrificed for that freedom.Read the rest. And say a prayer for the souls of all our deceased veterans (like my dad) if you are so inclined.
