Could someone send the White House a note to remind them that this is still America? Because some scary rumors are "starting to percolate on the internet" that we've morphed into the USSR. This post on the White House blog is truly astonishing:
There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end of life care. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation. Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov.We're supposed to report casual conversations to the White House website?! Have they officially over-reached yet?
And what exactly does "just below the surface" mean? It sounds kind of cloak-and-dagger but doesn't actually mean anything. Perhaps it refers to any kind of communication that doesn't originate from the White House or its media toadies.
Michelle Malkin has an idea.
So does Barbara Curtis:
Hey, about that White House request to send any "fishy" email or sites to them - maybe someone should come up with a button for all us bloggers and emailers identifying us asProud Members of the White House Fishy List
I see a fish theme background -
Anyone?
I'd like to nominate Blobfish as the official Fishy List mascot.
From another fishy blogger, remember Gladys Kravitz?
Much more from Memeorandum.
Suggested fishy blogpost suitable for submission to Dear Leader: Moving toward death as the default option
