Music: Blue Skies

There must be hundreds of versions of this bittersweet song. A selection:

An early version from Sinatra. It lacks the underlying melancholy; maybe he would have sung it differently in later years. Ella's voice is gorgeous but I'd rather hear the lyrics than the scat. A youngish Willie Nelson gets the melancholy. So does Steve Goodman, but he chooses to emphasize the joy.

    Then again, that was her thang.
