From Public Policy Polling via Ben Smith:
Perhaps the greatest measure of Obama's declining support is that just 50% of voters now say they prefer having him as President to George W. Bush, with 44% saying they'd rather have his predecessor. Given the horrendous approval ratings Bush showed during his final term that's somewhat of a surprise and an indication that voters are increasingly placing the blame on Obama for the country's difficulties instead of giving him space because of the tough situation he inherited. The closeness in the Obama/Bush numbers also has implications for the 2010 elections. Using the Bush card may not be particularly effective for Democrats anymore, which is good news generally for Republicans and especially ones like Rob Portman who are running for office and have close ties to the former President. As they say in the NFL, that has got to hurt.

Bush wasn't great but he wasn't as bad as the media portrayed him. Dems have the media on their side, Repubs have to fight against the Dems and the media.
Also, a good part of Bush's low approval rating in his 2nd term was not only libs but conservatives like me, who felt Bush wasn't conservative enough.
Truman's approval rating was 22% in February of 1952 vs. Bush's approval rating of 31 in March of 2008. Truman is now highly regarded. I wonder if historians will rehabilitate Bush like they did Truman.
That made me smile.
Arriba Bush, he was indeed better although at the end of his term he started to falter.
Compared to Obama, Benedict Arnold looks better.
