Jonah Goldberg thinks she ought to be fired. But she insists that everything went "according to clockwork." We can forgive the botched cliché but not her confusion about the meaning of "homeland security."If the “system” had “worked,” Abdulmutallab would have been barred from the U.S. like he had been barred from Britain.
The “system,” like Napolitano, was an epic fail.
And as predicted, Napolitano also played the “lone nut” card — dismissing the Christmas Day jihadist as a single operator not part of “anything larger” despite his own testimony to the contrary.
She’s Obama’s biggest joker. And there’s no Blame-Bush loophole
to weasel through anymore.

A law enforcement official said the man was Nigerian and had locked himself in the airliner's bathroom. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the investigation was ongoing.
Officials told NBC News the disruptive passenger, who refused to come out of the bathroom for more than an hour, may have had "stomach problems" that prevented him from leaving.

This "system" like all government "systems" of safety and security did work - as planned.
ReplyDeleteFree people had to go through a humiliating sham so the government could delude the people that they are doing something. While the fail-safe that all government plans depend upon to provide actual security had to be engaged. Congress should immediately confer honorary citizenship of Thee United States on Jasper Schuringa, since he provided that fail-safe.

ReplyDeleteJanet Napolitano is what we call a “useful idiot” who has far exceeded the outside norms of the “Peter Principle.” The question that begs to be answered is why? Was it her support of Obama and he responded by giving her this spot like it was an ambassadorship? It really is an important position to just hand off to the first dunce that comes along.
So what’s the deal? As I say in my post, maybe it is important to the administration to have someone weak and incompetent in such an important position. They have a plan, we don’t know what it is past what we see. Maybe it is as simple as they want to control the department through her. Or maybe they want to be able to use the power of the department at some point in the future, for example as a way to identify “terrorists” Obama sees in our midst.
One thing for sure, she’s a mess, and should be replaced. If she’s not, then it proves they want her for something and it isn’t her great intelligence or insight.

Had the bomber been a Southern Baptist pro lifer DHS would have been all over this. Memeorandum would have been full of Leftie posts extolling the seriousness of the situation and Obama would only have shot nine holes. As it is, eh, no biggie.
