"Pro-lifers" cave, Obama the Unbearable orates

Philip Klein:

Rep. Bart Stupak said that Democrats have peeled off half of the dozen members he claimed had been standing with him to oppose any bill that includes taxpayer funding for abortion. The situation is fluid, but it's unlikely that would be enough to kill the bill.
That's the consensus. But Eric Cantor says not so fast: "We're still fighting and it's still very fluid." And the people circling the Capitol haven't given up.

Either way, Ramesh Ponnuru has an important reminder:
I hope pro-lifers understand the special importance of defeating the ex-pro-lifers who will have voted for the bill.
Our insufferable yakker-in-chief saw today as another chance to dazzle with his eloquence. I haven't got time for the pain but judging from Kathryn Jean Lopez's twitter feed it was worse than usual. There's no doubt that her comments are far more entertaining that Obama's dreary blaming, boasting, and lying:
did you know president obama was a community organizer?

if i were in a tough district and o just called me out i'd rethink voting for the damn bill.

"i can't guarantee that this is good politics" no kidding. possibly the first thing i've believed in this speech.

o is all about change: he's replaced his repetitive use of "I" with "me" today.

o in translation: if you're a goofball who belongs on fox news and want to vote against the bill ....

So Dems today have invoked McCain & Dole in trying to convince the house caucus that #hcr is a winner. u dont have to be barone 2 c a prob.

@SenJohnMcCain do you know steny hoyer just invoked your name in the name of #hcr?

did just say that every single good idea is in the bill he's going to sign? does he even believe that?

actually the cbo hasn't been able to score what you've got there

"patient's bill of rights on steroids" ... dude, you're president of the united states, you should demand new cheap lines from your writers

Obama names Daschle, Baker, and Dole backing this bill. They happen to all be HC lobbyists

he's gone from condescending to outright mocking critics. that takes a little audacity if he bothered to take a look at the people outside

obama has no idea he is about to OWN every problem you have waiting in line at the doctor, every complaint you have about prices ...

turn the blame-bush drinking game on, karl rove just got a mention by the president

arguments have been made about #hcr "by just about everyone" -- ok, he wins. i did hear gene simmons yesterday

obama in translation: don't let those silly people outside make you feel bad about yourselves (and if you do, we will cover that too!)

obama's like in the 1st graph & reminds us he lives in white house now & gets to read abe lincoln's books. he must think mccain is watching.

Here is my brief post on Alcee Hastings commenting on how they are making up the rules as they go along. I won't be surprised if they rig the count so when someone say "No" it records as "Yes" (I mean, once it is passed won't that man realize it was a good idea all along. That is what they are saying. Right?)

As I have said before, once the contract between the governing and the governed is broken by the former, the latter has no responsibility to keep the side either. If it passes, I'm looking for some very serious blow back. Slaughter's office window may be only the beginning.
