I have more in common with Nancy Pelosi than I had thought. She, too, is a devotee of my favorite saint, the awesome St. Joseph, just a man, but chosen by God to be the protector of the Holy Family; humble and hidden, yet virile. I don't see him as the feeble elderly man often pictured in art.
Earlier today Speaker Pelosi asked for St. Joseph's intercession for the passage of government "health care." At first I thought she might be talking about another famous Joseph. But no; she does apparently expect the protector of the infant Jesus and his Blessed Mother to intercede for a bill that would force Americans to be complicit in a practice that out-Herods Herod: the suctioning and scraping of developing children from the wombs of their mothers. Read the Litany and consider the likelihood that St. Joseph is smiling on Pelosi's efforts. Make special note of his title "Terror of demons."
She's in league with those dreadful nuns who pretend to speak for Catholics. Where are those Old Testament-style lightning bolts when you need them?
And by the way, the healthcare reform travesty will kill jobs, not create them.

The more I hear about Pelosi, the greater my unrest that she actually professes to be a practicing Catholic! Does she attend Mass? Does her priest bless her with the body and blood of Christ, knowing that she consents to such barbaric behavior and resolutions that will hurt so many? I think I will just bombard her and her constituents, especially the Catholics, with my complete and utter dismay over this greedy, power-hungry woman and her leadership.
Have you seen this?

My daughter was born on St. Joseph's day and I married a Joseph and have a son named Joseph. The day has always been special to me long before my daughter was born. I couldn't even watch that video the whole way through. I felt disgusted she dare invoke his name to pray for this travesty. We desperately need a lightening bolt.
Abby:
She was given communion from the Pope, so the church doesn't take the proper stand.
Also, I was at Obama's pep rally today. It started with a prayer, if one could call it that. After listening to that woman's "prayer", there is no reason for them to have a problem with what they are doing. There are churches out there that fully accept it. Remember where the late term abortion doctor was killed?
She received communion at a huge papal Mass but I don't believe she received communion from the Pope. Correct me if I'm wrong.
I'd love to see the Church get serious with Pelosi and company, the way Bishop Tobin did with Patrick K.
I am not catholic, so I wouldn't know the difference between the two. To me that is the same thing.
Jill, I'm ready for someone in the Catholic Church to stand up; however, separation of Church and State, I don't feel it's a fight they want to take one. I know the Church is the largest by membership in the world. They certainly have clout and unimaginable avenues that could be tapped on this issue.
Bottom line, in my opinion, she has no moral conscience, she structures her interpretation of facts to suit her own agenda, and she will face the same God as me in the end.
Conservative girl, it's a matter of logistics (to me, anyway). When a pope comes to the US and has a public papal Mass it's usually at a stadium that holds thousands of people. Hundreds of priests distribute communion to the crowd and no one can control who receives.
The Pope did have a chat with Nancy in Rome and we haven't learned what he said to her. But I imagine her attitude is that he's not the boss of her, and the Church is a club she has the right to belong to, regardless of her views or behavior.
She makes my blood boil.
The problem is years ago the Catholic Church was infiltrated by the socialist and Communists. You are now reaping generations of "social justice" converts.
The left wasn't stupid when they did it, just very long planners.
The only language I see in the bill about abortions is the language saying if an insurance company in the exchange offers to cover the procedure it must be paid for separately. Gee, I wonder how many woman are going to actually pay extra to buy abortion insurance? I mean unless they just plan to have abortions. First trimester abortions are not that expensive and your insurance deductible is probably higher so I really don't see many woman using their medical insurance to cover first trimester abortions anyway....
Indeed the bill invests $250 million in support services for women facing unplanned pregnancies and over a billion dollars to help families afford adoption services. These investments should, in fact, help reduce the number of abortions in America.
Yeah, as a Catholic I can just picture Saint Joseph applauding Nancy Pelosi in her quest to make sure that every other Catholic digs deep into their pockets and pays for the murder of an unborn baby because "it" wasn't wanted. After all that's what religion is all about... snuffing out the lives of unborn helpless human beings that will never get the same chances as she and her entire family has had to live life. Why I'll bet Jesus Christ himself is applauding all her efforts to make sure that murdering bastards on death row get to live out their lives while their victims don't. If only she would consider the death penalty as a retroactive abortion I might consider her worth sainthood. Perhaps instead of gassing or injecting lethal drugs maybe we could do what Saint Joseph would want. We could crush their skulls and suck them out with a vacuum cleaner, then throw them in a dumpster. We could call it a "governor's right to choose."
