Man's inhumanity to man son, illustrated: Chained to a lamp post, the terrified Chinese boy whose poverty-stricken father tried to sell him on the street:
Yong Tsui put up a small table with a sign on it giving his son's age, name, and his capacity for hard work. He took bids from strangers to take the boy off his hands. Then they caught him in a chokehold. Click above for photos.
But when interested parties began to ask how easy it would be to feed him, passers-by decided enough was enough.
Horrifying, absolutely. But that last bit is mildly comforting.

A man has been summonsed to court after allegedly trying to sell his infant daughter for a case of beer.
Police confronted 24 year old Matthew Brace outside the Pride Gas Station on Burnett Road in Chicopee Monday afternoon after a caller said he offered his baby in exchange for beer money.
Police say the mother, 31 year old Wendy Arsenault, was inside the store and didn't realize what Brace was doing.

sadly this is a common thing in many countries. They also marry off very young girls because they don't have the money to feed them.
ReplyDeleteI find it maddening that some in this country have no idea how lucky we are. Being poor in this country is a cakewalk compared to many other parts of the world.
Hey, this means China will be on the human rights commission for the U.N.! Cool! Next week they'll be in charge of U.N. construction mandates when another earthquake brings down a school house and wipes out the entire village's children, just like a couple of years ago.

And then somehow Obama will find a way to send a envoy over to apologize because he figures, in his twisted mind, that it was our fault.
Seriously, read this book I've suggested before.
Mao's Last Revolution. It is about the 1966-76 Cultural Revolution and its atrocities. When you are done, you'll be light years ahead on understanding the Chinese and also understanding the actions of your own government, which sees no problem with late term abortions and killing off the elderly and infirm.
It is all about the health of the "state".
