Video: Stark asserts omnipotence of federal government

Let Rep. Pete Stark be the poster child for the November elections:

The normally combative Stark looks positively deflated here when confronted by a citizen who isn't afraid to push back. Maybe he, too, can see November from his long-held House seat.

  1. If she's right then the gov't doesn't have the authourity to limit or define healthcare to anyone. Hmmm.

  2. And in the end, he snarks something like, "I'm glad you're here to rescue us."

  3. Stark is an idiot - he needs to go. For God sake, we need term limits.

  4. Stat, Waxman, and Pelosi are all peas in a pod. Too bad their districts keep sending them back to Congress. The real problem is that because Democrats use a seniority system, we get ruled by a few far left California representatives. Neither of these three could win an election outside of their districts.

  5. Her passion is fine, her argument is screwy. This has nothing to do about the government forcing one person to do something for another person. That happens all the time; from speed limits (you are forced to go slow to save the lives of other drivers) to making murder illegal.

No the government, as Stark points out, tells us what to do all the time. It is the level of intrusion that causes the problem. Stark thinks it is unlimited, we don't.

  6. Perhaps you have a more apt analogy? She is correct in saying that the govt is forcing someone (either the healthcare provider or the taxpayer) to supply or provide the recipient if they cannot or will not pay. Limiting someones speed has no effect on others and does not restrict or compel the performance of another.

  7. It looks like Stark expects the rest of us to follow his example in submitting to the Democrats' "boot on the neck." It's been a fun ride for him, playing to the majority in his kooky neighborhood, riding roughshod over the opposition, and feeding high from the public trough, but it sure does look like he's had the stuffing knocked out of him. What's the unemployment rate in his district, I wonder?
