Just got this note from my husband:
Our health (bi-weekly) insurance premiums are rising from $110 to $160. That's a 45% increase. To be fair, to balance that out, the benefits are decreasing (higher co-pays, etc.).That Obamacare is pretty awesome, isn't it? How irrational of us not to be grateful to Obama, Pelosi, Reid, and company for shoving this down our unwilling throats. I guess we're just not thinking clearly.
Leave a comment if you've gotten news similar to ours. Or worse, like JACG, who tells us in her comment below that her policy is now illegal:
You are actually lucky compared to me. I can no longer purchase my policy, as it is not "obamacare approved". I officially got the letter on Monday, but knew already that my insurance company will no longer carry my policy because the new mandates have made it too expensive. I asked if they thought anyone else would sell me the same policy and they told me that they are now illegal and I wouldn't be able to get that policy again. They gave me three options, the least expensive of the three almost doubles my costs. It will go up about 85%. To make matters worse, I am losing all the money that is left over in my HSA, unless I use it up by the end of the year. Something that won't happen unless there is a medical emergency that is major.Obama lied, her coverage died.

ReplyDeleteA bill like that really clears one's mind about what to do in the polling booth.
ReplyDeleteWorking hard, helping to separate you from all that bad, bad, capital. Thanks, BHO!
ReplyDeleteYou're just being ungrateful. Obama works hard on lowering his handicap so that young people will be forced to buy medical insurance directly regulated by the HHS to make life better for YOU. He KNOWS what's best.
ReplyDeleteNow just be quiet, wait for Cap & Tax and the windmills. Oh, and drink the Kool Aid. It's good for you.
Hope and Change!!
I'm a retired Marine and currently use Tricare Standard.
ReplyDeleteI am wholly UNconvinced that the promise made to me in 1980 when I enlisted that I wold have free health care for life if I retired is safe.
I dropped my private policy months ago when it took a huge jump in price. It was a very high deductible and covered essentially nothing.
ReplyDeleteNext month I will be forced into the dreaded Medicare.
This month I lose my 18 months of COBRA coverage and am desparately trying to get on private insurance before the end of the month.
ReplyDeleteI am fighting terminal cancer, and have frequent hosptial and doctor visits as a result of my condition.
What I don't understand is why, even though I am considered disabled and get SSD, I have to wait a full 24 months (30 months after being declared disabled) before I am eligible for Medicare. So COBRA expires after 18 months, but I can't get on Medicare until I have been receiving SSD for 24 months. Are they expecting us to die before then? Why could't "health care reform" close the COBRA/Medicare hole for disabled people?
This has been a nightmare. Please pray for me that I am approved for an insurance policy. Even though it is expensive, without it, I will die.
Healthcare is unraveling all across the country. Thanks for posting your own experience as well as the commenters. We have to know, because from the podium the lies are still flowing.
