Obama praises China's "desire to give our children a better life"

Where are the lightning bolts when you need them? Obama to the Chinese dictator:

"While it's easy to focus on our differences of culture and perspective," President Obama said in his dinner remarks, "let us never forget the values that our people share: a reverence for family; the belief that, with education and hard work and with sacrifice, the future is what we make it; and most of all, the desire to give our children a better life."
Hello? One-child policy? Forced abortions? Babies tossed out like garbage?  Millions of missing girls?

America has its own shame to take responsibility for, but we haven't descended to China's level yet.

  1. That is, of course, given that NOW's/Mao's choice was not inflicted upon the poor wee things.

  2. Perhaps you should also talk about the Chinese govt.'s habit of putting kids in rural schools to work, rather than teaching them. There was that famous incident when the school blew up while the kids were being forced to make fireworks to pay for "school fees."

Child labor like that in rural areas isn't uncommon in China.
