Jeffrey Lord makes a prediction:
President Obama will not be re-elected. Period. But the president's not worried:
Why?
Obamaflation has arrived, and this is what it looks like.
Milk. A gallon of skim. At the local Giant in Central Pennsylvania:
January 11, 2011: $3.20
February 28, 2011: $3.24
March 6, 2011: $3.34
April 23. 2011: $3.48
That would be a 28 cent rise in a mere 102 days, from January to April of this year. The third year of the Obama misadventure.
Then there's the celery. Same sized bag. Same store.
January 11, 2011: $1.99 a bag.
March 6, 2011: $2.49 a bag.
A rise of 50 cents in 54 days.
And the gas price during the administration filled with those who think "drill baby drill" is so yesterday? As one internet photo [here] had it, the numbers for regular, premium. and diesel were replaced with "LOL," "OMG," and "WTF!" Thus be it to governments who seem not to understand that energy is what makes the economic engine -- and your car -- hum.
What does this mean? It means Barack Obama is not going to be re-elected president of the United States. Period.
At a fundraiser in Southern California last week, where pump prices are the highest in the country, Obama acknowledged the political peril of high gas prices. He said, “My poll numbers go up and down depending on the latest crisis, and right now gas prices are weighing heavily on people.”He's not an elite! Really! And he feels your pain:
He tried to show that he feels motorists’ pain. “I admit, Secret Service doesn’t let me fill up the pump anymore,” he said. “But it hasn’t been that long since I did.”
“It’s just another burden when things were already pretty tough,” he said. But it's much more than "just another burden," because high gas prices affect the cost of everything we buy. And regular people, who must drive to get to work, school, and the grocery store, are feeling it. This man's expression says it all.
***
Update: I didn't quite know what to do with Obama's nonsensical "fill up the pump" remark. But Mark Steyn did. (For the smartest guy on the planet, Obama doesn't always make a lot of sense, does he?)
***
Please read the comments. As people are being painfully squeezed by Obama's energy policies, he searches for the real killer. Maybe that's why he spends so much time on the golf course.

My husband's car broke down 2 months ago, it needs a new transmission, so now he uses my car and I'm trapped at home with no way to get out if there is an emergency - like if my kid gets sick at school or something. Je can't save to get his car fixed because a much larger portion of his paycheck goes just for gas to get him to & from work and because of that, we're falling behind on bills again. Gas is around $4.50/gal here now and goes up by five or ten cents overnight every day. We buy the cheapest bread we can find, it was $1.50 a loaf a month ago, then $2 and now $2.50. store brand canned cat food was $.33/can last month, then $.40 now $.50/can. A piece of pork loin was $6.99 for about a pound and a half, then $9.99 and now the price tag for that same piece of meat is labelled between thirteen and seventeen dollars depending on whether or not it's on "sale". Bacon is $7/lb, a few months ago it was $3.50 and you could find sales where it was 2 for $5, now the "sale" price is 4 bucks. Coffee used to be $2.50 for the small can which was 13 ounces, not the can is either 10.2 or 11 ounces and costs between $4.50 - $5.79 a can, on "sale" it's $4, sale price used to be 2 for $5. Those are just a few examples, everything has gotten dramatically more expensive here but we don't have any more money than before. I'll probably never have my own car again and I dread the day that there is a crisis with my kids and I am stranded at home with no transportation. It is a miserable existence & gets worse by the day. I would take a job at night when everyone is sleeping despite my medical problems to help us to survive, but there are none. Even local companies who are ALWAYS hiring due to high turnover (because the jobs are crummy & pay very little) are no longer hiring, these are companies that ALWAYS had help wanted ads in the local papers & pennysavers for years! And stupid Obaa tells us that WE need to make sacrifices & buy new fuel efficient cars. Where's HIS sacrifice? He spends in one day on his luxury what could feed my family for a year. Smug bastard. sorry for the rant, Jill, he just seriously ticks me off and my husband and I are at our breaking point. I am starting to crack, every day it gets harder to put a smile on my face for my kids while inside I am weeping and panicking. And as bad as it is at my house, I know people who have it far worse. Nice normal people who weren't doing too badly just a few years ago. A good friend of mine had been living with her husband and kids in a house with no heat, running water or electricity in Detroit all winter long until a local reporter found out about it and had mercy, the reporter helped her to get power to their huse and did a story on them. A person who saw the story offered her husband a minimum wage job which he gladly took, before a medical problem landed him in the hospital before he was able to get health insurance and now this family is in the same terrible position. And as bad as they have it, even they know that there are families in worse shape than them, families who hadn't been doing too badly until recently.
ReplyDeleteThese days it doesn't take but a few seemingly minor events to push a family down & out from the middle class and the fall is fast & hard. It is nearly impossible to get back up again once you are that far down. Barring a miracle, you can never catch up once you fall even a little bit behind and then it snowballs - quickly. It is a nightmare for so many families and there is no relief in sight. Even charitable organizations are having a hard time helping folks because nobody has anything to spare where they normally would be happy to give. This is what Obama and the progs want, they hate America, they hate families, they WANT to break us. Frances Fox Piven must be delighted.
Your poster above is right. Things are slipping badly. I remember the last years of Carter before Reagan and the first years of Reagan's term when I was in banking. We made 18% car and house loans and thought we were doing well. When it hit 13% we thought the corner was turned.
ReplyDeleteTruth is that this has happened before, but just with a different twist. This President is willing to starve out family like your poster in order to change their social behavior, and he feels justified doing it. Ideologues feel that they are entitled to have and use this power.
What did he say to the guy who complained? Buy a hybrid? He wasn't being flip, he was dead serious. What kind of car will the husband from the above post buy if he had the money? A Suburban or a Subaru? An Expedition or an Escape?
Make no mistake, if he had empathy- which he doesn't- he would still do what he is doing because it is his agenda.
I asked in my book can one man in the wrong place do great harm? I think we know the answer.
All I can say is AMEN to the two above. (GO Zilla!) But I have been noticing it for about 3 years with the gas. I finally got rid of my old van that was paid off (which I miss terribly) and bought a car that got better mileage. Now I have a payment again, and last year when I bought it I filled it up for $18 dollars ONCE and was thrilled, but then the prices started going up again and now I refuse to put more than $30 at a time and just try not to drive anywhere unless I absolutely have to.
ReplyDeleteObama wants to squeeze us with high gas prices so we'll kick our "addiction" to oil, gas, cars, mobility, and the American way of life. So far, so good, Mr. President. Meanwhile, he's looking for the "real killers" responsible for the crazy-high prices so he can avoid the blame: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/right-turn/post/obamas-phony-search-for-oil-speculators/2011/03/29/AFJDjHiE_blog.html
ReplyDeleteThe president often makes jokes that attempt to illustrate that he is a "man of the people", but invariable the joke simply underscores that he is not. Whether it be his efforts to pick the Final Four, or taking his coat and tie off with Mark Zukerberg, we are left with the certainty that our President is not invested in the concerns that we have over the future of the nation. I preferred it when he was throwing gutter balls on his way to staggering 37 bowling score. David Brooks felt a wave of clairvoyance at the sight of Obama's pant crease. A clearer insight into a future Obama presidency was provided at Altoona, Pennsylvania.
