I don't much care whether Newt supported or attacked Reagan in the 80's, or what Bob Dole thinks of him. By now, Newt is a known quantity, and even his promise of a moon colony by 2020, or his admission that he made up that self-righteous claim of offering the testimony of friends to ABC to refute the "open marriage" charges, doesn't tell us anything new about him. He can act and talk like a conservative when he wants to, or he can do the opposite. He's full of himself and his multi-step "solutions." And in the debates, he alternates between the poles of the statesman who's above it all and the attack dog going for the jugular. It may be fun to watch for a while. But the drama can also be draining. How long before Newt fatigue sets in?

Newt fatigue

Hopefully it won't set in right after he becomes the nominee and right before Obama starts trotting out billions in ads echoing all of these attacks against him (attacks that appear to be true, judging by the sources and volume of them).
ReplyDeleteImagine if a cheating, wife-swapping Newt (that's not an insult, that is a description of his earlier behaviors) has another woman out there who he slept with when he was married- what happened to Cain will pale in comparison. Scary.
Yeah, we're supposed to assume that the adultery we already know about is all there is. I don't get that.
ReplyDeleteTell me again HOW we got stuck with Newt or Mitt? Good grief
ReplyDeleteDisaster.
ReplyDeleteEither you need a break from politics, Jill, or I need a break from Pessimist & Pessimette.
ReplyDelete"Conservative Teacher" calls Newt a wife-swapper. Lovely images of group sex in my head now, thanks. The other day you were all over "Just a conservative girl" for calling Perry a pill-popper. Pill-popping's nicer than wife-swapping in my book, but you give the teacher a pat on the head.
One reason we got stuck with the current field is that you let people take out Cain with bogus accusations of sexual wrong-doing. Count on the premise that there will be women coming forward to say they had affairs with married Newt, and I won't be surprised a bit if Axelrod's neighbor Bialek is one of them - she's likely burned through the last bribe already.
This is our field. We need to push them toward Conservatism. That means smacking them when they go Left, and praising them when they articulate our values.
