The latest in a series from our Man of the People:
Gosh, he's a great candidate, isn't he? Inevitable and all that. (And I still don't get that line about the trees.)
Previously:
- Mr. Electable hones his message: "I'm not concerned about the very poor"
- "I like being able to fire people"
- $10,000 bet?

So what???? At least they aren't paid for by tax-payers! Wow, who cares?!
ReplyDeleteIt's not that he's rich, it's that he's so consistently tone-deaf. It's called "optics" and his are terrible. That was an unforced error.
ReplyDeleteOh relax. This is getting silly.
ReplyDeletebad optics is holding a press event in an empty stadium
ReplyDeleteYou're right about the optics:

He doesn't exactly set the base on fire. To mention that his wife drives two Caddies when the country is digging in the sofa cushions for gas money is not the way to connect with the voters.
I, like most, could care less what he drives or what he owns. He earned it, more power to him.
ReplyDeleteThe issue is his lack of core foundational principle. He's an amoeba. He has no bedrock from which to lead so he efforts to ingratiate himself with whatever audience is in front of him to the point of sucking up. And he does it really poorly at that, because while it's obvious to everyone but him, trying too hard only leaves the impression that, he's trying too hard.
He will get eviscerated in the general election. Figuratively of course, but such is going to be his complete inability, lack of understanding, and lack of principle, to stand up to what will come his way.
I hope Ann has 35 Cadillacs! Nobody ever gets hired by a poor person!
ReplyDeleteOkay, I give. It's not inept or out-of-touch at all to talk about your multiple luxury cars while people are un- and underemployed and gas is hitting record highs. Way to go, Mitt.
ReplyDeleteHello out there. The point Jill is driving home is not directed to whether or not Ann drives two Cadillacs. She is attacking the idea being shoved down our throats that Mr. Romney is this great choice of the party. Largely, the party has not yet spoken, and as far as the base goes, it's hard to warm up to a guy whose position on the most important political issue is that the version he came up with for Massachusetts wasn't nearly as bad as the Obama version that followed it, and that he is certain sure to appeal (right). Meanwhile, this clown floats through the primary season blowing a bazillion dollars to dump mud on every conservative that shows up to challenge his excellency. Frankly it stinks, and there is no way a wealthy capitalist is going to be able to say 340K wasn't that much and my wife drives two Cadillacs without getting himself painted as an out of touch rich guy that has no care or compassion for the working class Americans that make up the bulk of the electorate. This plow won't scour.
