Kudos to the kids who walked out amid the hooting and cheering. That took real courage and showed that they're the exact opposite of "pansy-a**ed." I do hope someone warned them not to touch the doorknobs on their way out. (Tip for Mr. Savage: He could make a few extra bucks selling hand-sanitizer at his public appearances.) Another item in his resume that must make his mother proud: he's the creep responsible for the vile attack on Rick Santorum's name.
One might think President Obama would not care to associate himself with the likes of Savage. But au contraire, mes amis; the administration endorses him:
Dan Savage, however, is much more than just a militant gay activist. He is the White House endorsed spokesman for their anti-bullying campaign.
Dan Savage and his “It Gets Better” Project is endorsed by the White House’s own StopBullying.gov. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelious [sic] and President Obama have both recorded videos endorsing Savage and his organization. On June 29, 2011, Savage attended the White House “Pride Reception” where he hobnobbed with administration officials including the Vice-President. Savage openly brags about his close connections to the White House. After the reception, he told news outlets that President Obama would move to openly endorse gay marriage after the 2012 election, more specifically in February 2013. [More ugly stuff here.]
Dan Savage and his endorsement by the Obama administration demonstrates the lie behind the left’s anti-bullying campaign. The goal is not to stop bullying but rather to intimidate those who disagree with the Obama administration and the leftist agenda.
Not found in the above clip but reportedly included in Savage's remarks for the edification of our young people:
“The first thing he told [us] was, ‘I hope you’re all using birth control!’” He also reportedly told the students about how good his partner looks in a Speedo. . . .Savage also reportedly made reference to "just having sex with his male partner." Thanks for sharing, Dan! Way to shake up those complacent Christian kids and heroically battle their hypocrisy and hate!
Shame on the conference planners for subjecting kids to Savage's obnoxious spiel. Perhaps this will teach more parents to do a little research before signing their kids up (and writing checks) for indoctrination that violates their values. Savage's reputation precedes him, and there's little doubt the organizers knew what they were getting:
Savage, 47, said he asked the organizers — the National Scholastic Press Association and Journalism Education Association — if he should "moderate" the speech. "They said, 'No. Be yourself; do what you do.' "Yes indeed.
Savage said the speech is one he has repeatedly given in promoting "It Gets Better," his hugely successful project to help gay, lesbian and transgender youths cope with bullying. The project has at least 40,000 videos — testimonials meant to offer encouragement — including one by President Obama, and an accompanying book that debuted on The New York Times best-seller list.
"It wasn't like I sneaked up on a Bible study class and commandeered the podium. I'm like the devil. You have to invite me in," said Savage.
(Does anyone know where I can find a transcript of the entire speech? If so, please pass it along.)

Once again, the message is that the last acceptable prejudice is against Christianity. Nice anti-bullying message there, buddy. I pride myself on teaching the kids that we respect everyone, even if we disagree with their behavior or lifestyle. It can be done...now if the other side would realize that.
ReplyDeleteSometimes, it's just frightening.
If anti-Semitism is the socialism of fools, then anti-Christianism is the socialism of window-lickers.
DeleteOr should I say doorknob-lickers?
"I'm like the devil" ?? Chilling.
ReplyDeleteOn another note, what was Obama's "It Gets Better" video testimony about? Maybe how to cope with being bullied for eating dog meat.
Dan Savage is a vile, vulgar, and disgusting bigot and he is a huge bully, that he represents and "anti-bullying" movement is insane.
ReplyDeleteHaving the left in control of our country and our culture is like a never ending "Groundhog Day" version of the childhood game Opposite Day, when evil is exalted as good, virtue is considered a crime against humanity, and people who have made careers out of intimidating, harassing, and slandering innocent people are considered role models against bullying.
We need to get back to the other side of the freaking mirror.
The major predictor that a child will be bullied? Being overweight. Reuters Health report "the odds of being bullied were 63 percent higher for an obese child, compared to a healthy-weight peer."
ReplyDeleteAccording to Science Daily last year, "Obese children are more likely to be bullied regardless of gender, race, socioeconomic status, social skills or academic achievement." Studies worldwide continually find that 62% of kids are picked on because of how they look or how they talk.
And 20 years of intensive research continually finds that bullying behavior peaks by early adolescence, and declines as kids enter puberty and move into High School.
But where in Savage's "movement" are the programs that encourage acceptance, equality, and respect for the non-skinny kids? Not a whisper.
Despite continual data showing that up to half of all overweight children are consistently bullied, the bills proposed never even mention size or weight ("S. 506: Safe Schools Improvement Act of 2011" or any of the previous four years of failed attempts). Strangely, it doesn't mention ANY of the real reasons kids are bullied. Instead, it names: "actual or perceived race, color, national origin, sex, disability status, sexual orientation or gender identity, among other categories."
So it leaves me wondering: Why would those who lobby for "anti-bullying" legislation routinely argue against including the real reasons for bullying in any official regulation? Why would a set of interest groups push to deliberately exclude those most vulnerable from protection?
When a person is forced to resign from a presidential campaign solely because they are openly Christian, then you can whine about Christian victimhood.
ReplyDeleteI suppose you're referring to this. If you read through that you'll see there's more to it than leftist spinners want to acknowledge.
ReplyDeleteBack to Savage's speech: If calling out the real bullies is "whining," oh well. It's otherwise known as standing up for oneself and praised as heroic when practiced by approved victim groups.
Christianity has grown so accustomed to overwhelming cultural dominance in this country that the suggestion that other belief systems are legally permitted is treated as an "attack."
ReplyDeleteI mean, my heavens- besides virtually every member of Congress and state house wherever will the Christian faith find a voice in government?
Picture these two scenarios:
In one Romney opens his presidential bid with the news that he is gay and has been demonstrably living as a gay man.
In the other, Romney opens his campaign with the announcement that he and his family have broken with the Morman church and have become baptized as Christian.
Any doubts as to which of these announcements guarantees he'll never be president?
