Late-term abortion nightmare in Germantown, Maryland

Attention must be paid to this terrible story out of Maryland, where Leroy Carhart, notorious late-term abortionist and hero of the Left, continues to provide "healthcare" to women by ending the lives of their fully-formed, third-trimester babies. In this case (and not the first time for Carhart), the young mother was also killed.

29 years old. And her daughter Madison (yes, she had a name) was a 33-week preborn girl. 33 weeks. Please explain to me how this is different from infanticide. Read the obituary here.

We're waiting to hear some outrage from the safe-and-legal crowd, just as we wait in vain to hear from feminists and pro-choicers on forced (as in no choice) abortions in China and gendercidal practices in China, India, and even in the West. But abortion advocates, despite their rhetoric, are strangely silent on anything that might mean bad PR for abortion or abortionists.

I'm assuming Carhart makes sure he gets his fees upfront, just in case. The Washington Post did a puff-piece on him in 2011 and typically neglected to even raise the money issue, but he charges thousands of dollars for his late term "services," which get higher as the child gets older and closer to birth. (For the strong of stomach and spirit, read his own description of what he does for a living.)

America has all but lost its soul, but perhaps this heartbreaking incident will awaken some remnant of human feeling strong enough to break through the filter of political correctness and cause us to acknowledge what's really going on here. If anyone hears about it, that is. Read Stacy McCain's report here.

  1. Too tragic for words. My heart goes out to this poor family. May God have mercy on what our society has become.

    1. Disgusting! This should not happen in the USA. Why on earth does a woman ask for an abortion for 33 week old Baby?!

  2. A hidden story here is how a mother, who appeared to have everything going for her, gets to the point where an abortion, so close to term, is perceived to be the best option. A Catholic mother. Even with fetal anomalies incompatible with life, families who deliver the child report a great peace, despite the grief. As a mother of a severely handicapped child myself, I do know about the pressure and coercion a family faces with an adverse prenatal diagnosis. Imagine going in for the 20-week ultrasound and happily expecting to find out the sex of your child, only to be told there is something terribly wrong. At such a vulnerable time, often the ONLY thing offered is termination. The "professionals" you trust with your care all agree. Very likely, helpful resources are not offered or even known of.
This is where we must do better! Along these lines, a couple of websites I know of are prenatalpartnersforlife.org and benotafraid.net.

  3. Agree very tragic and there is more to this story as to why this mother chose a late term abortion. I remember a relative of mine in the late sixties/early seventies getting false information about her unborn daughter that the professionals said would be born with abnormalities. Mom and Dad decided to continue the pregnancy anyway, and a very healthy baby girl my cousin was born.

  4. How Incredibly sad that a Catholic family chose not to accept whatever "abnormalities" lie ahead.

ALL abortion advocates are not being silent.

  6. It's my understanding that abortion clinics will strike an agreement with local ambulance services, so that when something goes horribly wrong with a "safe and legal" abortion, as it does all too often, the ambulances roll up to the back of the building without lights or sirens, so as not to discourage or disturb new customers (or profits).

  7. This Carhart would have made a fine Eugenicist, which is to say a great originalist progressive and a fantastic Nazi.

  8. In case anyone is brave enough of heart to see what a baby this age looks and acts like, so you can understand better that this really was murder, here you are: http://www.babycenter.com/fetal-development-images-33-weeks

  9. Mass? She was Catholic? Why did she do it? Was she in trouble medically? Fetal anomalies? What? Down's syndrome? Didn't have blue eyes? A girl?

You start down this path people get harmed. I can't help but wonder if there was a large hand in this. Maybe a hard reminder that doing these kinds of acts are not without penalty.

    Just thinking out loud.

  10. This is so dark. What a tragedy. To die from the complications of killing your own baby. She had a registry and a name picked out. I'm guessing there was some heavy duty coercion going on. May God have mercy on her soul. _Sue A.
