Sinatra: "You Do Something To Me"

Frank and Nelson Riddle rev up this Cole Porter classic in what was definitely a Swingin' Session:

I don't know if that's Frank's shortest recording but it's got to be a contender.

  1. I want to put a Frank CD on my Amazon Wishlist, a good swing-style CD. Do you have a recommendation? You're more of a Frankie expert than I!

  2. Well. :) My two favorite CDs are Songs for Swingin' Lovers http://astore.amazon.com/punpun-20/detail/B00000AEVA and Ring-a-Ding Ding! http://astore.amazon.com/punpun-20/detail/B004WJRGFW
I'd follow those up with Come Dance With Me http://astore.amazon.com/punpun-20/detail/B000006OHB and A Swingin' Affair! http://astore.amazon.com/punpun-20/detail/B00000AEV0

If you get any of those, tell me what you think. I could dig up a longer list of favorites, which I've got somewhere.

    1. Thanks, Jill. I'll put a couple of those on my List. It helps to have a recommendation or two when you're looking at as many albums as Sinatra cut in his long career. In the country music vein, it'd be like someone asking me what's George Strait's best album. Again, thanks.

  3. And which George Strait albums would you recommend for a beginner?

    1. Ah, you got me! Well, if I had to come up with something for a beginner, I'd go with "Chill of an Early Fall" and "Blue Clear Sky" for two of his earlier ones. A couple more recent ones would be "The Road Less Traveled" and "Troubador". That's just a shot in the dark though because I like most anything George Strait cuts, more or less. I'm partial to his old honky-tonk early stuff but I'm loving his recent music too. He's aging pretty darn nicely with his music, kind of like Sinatra did.
